There's a lot to be said about a great view. There's good reason why tourism is often called sight seeing. Instead of an emphasis being placed on culture or events, it's usually all about the view. People are highly vision oriented and our relation to the world tends to reflect this. That's why it's often so important to get a chance to see things firsthand rather than simply read about them in a book. This is even more true for ideas which are a bit out of the normal day to day experiences. Anything related to cosmic events presents a good example.

Everyone understands the basics of orbit and planetary bodies on an intellectual level. But it's one thing to learn about something and another to really grasp it on a deep emotional level. When one actually sees evidence of it in person it can be a huge event in his life. It's one of the big reasons why news of any kind of cosmic spectacle should be acted upon. But one of the most common and easily enjoyed will be an eclipse. These are rare, but still common enough that one can easily catch wind of it and get everything prepared in advance. And the amount of preparation needed really is lower than one might imagine.

All it takes is some spectacles to enjoy the cosmic spectacle

The first step in preparing for an eclipse is buying a pair of Eclipse Glasses. The name is rather suggestive of what they're going to do for people. Sunglasses allow people to see more safely when the sun is especially present. And eclipse glasses allow one to safely look around when the sun appears to be absent during an eclipse. Normally it's dangerous to look at an eclipse due to residual solar radiation which is still being emitted from the sun. But eclipse glasses block that while still allowing one a great view of the eclipse.
